Guest Martin Luther King III told the host of "The O'Reilly Factor" that America needs to hear a unifying message amid recent racial turmoil. O'Reilly interjected with his suggestion for "a pathway to success" for black people.
"Don't abandon your children. Don't get pregnant at 14. Don't allow your neighborhoods to deteriorate into free-fire zones. That's what the African American community should have on their T-shirts," he said.
"Am I wrong?" O'Reilly asked his guest.

(27,630 posts)Actually, O'Reilly fans probably secretly cheer pregnant white teens.
Given their stance on abstinence "education" and their relentless campaign to quash all forms of contraceptives for females, this is OBVIOUSLY what they want.
More unwanted pregnancies, and more teen black mothers to judge!

(3,732 posts)I grew up in a small rural town that was 99.9% white. There were a few black families that were, for all practical purposes, segregated, in their own neighborhood, with their own church. But all the children went to the same school because the town was so small.
Despite the strong religious tone of the town, the white girls tended to get pregnant in their early teens - often before getting married. My theory is this happened because:
1) There was nothing else to do fool around.
2) There was a strong narrative of the girl's rite of passage: winning the guy, getting married, living happily ever after. This was the be all and end all of a girl's life. When a young girl got pregnant, that meant some guy had successfully exploited that narrative.
3) Many girls watched soap operas, depicting a life better than the rural town, which reinforced tendencies A and B.
4) There was no Planned Parenthood.
5) There was a strong sports/drinking culture for the guys, which may have led to the exploitation of women.
Anyway, so many WHITE teenage girls got pregnant that I may have been the only one that attended high school in that town that escaped without a baby on board. And that's probably only because I had specific plans to get the heck out of there and avoided football culture like the plague. Few of these girls got married, at least to the boys who made them pregnant. Many had abortions despite their supposed Biblical beliefs. Those who kept their babies continued to live with their parents and probably got married when they were older. Could these girls be recipients of "welfare" services that the rural South is always screaming about? Hmm.
To my knowledge, NONE of the girls from black families got pregnant. It is likely, however, they were pressured to join the army. While the tiny school library had no literature on colleges, they did have abundant pamphlets on all branches on the armed services, which promised to pay for your college education after your tour of service.

(30,058 posts)should be reading a sign on a tshirt which says "Don't get pregnant at 14". This guy needs to go to sex education school, it doesn't matter what Todd Akin says, rape victims can get pregnant.
