LINCOLN, Neb. Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning filed a lawsuit Thursday with the U.S. Supreme Court, seeking a declaration that Colorados legalization of marijuana violates the U.S. Constitution.
...
"Federal law undisputedly prohibits the production and sale of marijuana," Bruning said. "Colorado has undermined the United States Constitution, and I hope the U.S. Supreme Court will uphold our constitutional principles."
...
In response to todays lawsuit, Colorado Attorney General John Suthers said he would defend Colorado's marijuana laws and issued the following statement:
Because neighboring states have expressed concern about Colorado-grown marijuana coming into their states, we are not entirely surprised by this action. However, it appears the plaintiffs primary grievance stems from non-enforcement of federal laws regarding marijuana, as opposed to choices made by the voters of Colorado. We believe this suit is without merit and we will vigorously defend against it in the U.S. Supreme Court.

(14,104 posts)1. Does the phrase "mind your own god damn business" mean anything?
Why doesn't Colorado sue Oklahoma over banning most abortions? Or just on general principal for being lunatics.

And let the States run their own states. Hypocrisy at it's finest..

then Republicans don't give a damn about "states' rights."

That the Federal Government would no longer interfere with state laws on marijuana? Did they just pass that in the last couple of days?

I'm pretty sure most of our politicians think Reefer Madness was a documentary. It seems like every other week I see a story about how many women are in prison here for marijuana-related offenses. We could literally re-write the state budget if we released our non-violent drug offenders.
I really love my state, but yeah, some crazy shit goes on here sometimes.
