South Carolina Tea Party invites opponent of interracial marriage to speak at its convention

The South Carolina Tea Party Coalition has scheduled a white nationalist — and self-described “Confederate Cuban” — to speak at its convention in January, the Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights (IREHR) reports.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Roan Garcia-Quintana is both a lifetime member and, currently, a board member of the white-nationalist group known as the Council of Conservative Citizens (CCC), which is an offshoot of the White Citizens Council that was formed to fight desegregation in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education.

The CCC website lists among its “Statement of Principles” that “[w]e believe the United States is a European country and that Americans are part of the European people.” Garcia-Quintana told The State that the CCC merely “supports Caucasian heritage.”

“Is it racist to be proud of your own heritage? Is it racist to want to keep your own heritage pure?” he continued. “Racist is when you hate somebody so much that you want to destroy them.”

He looks like he might be a little swarthy.

DNA testing has made great strides. How pure is pure enough? What standard should Real Americans be measured against?

He should get one of those genetic tests I would bet he has black blood. Remember that guy in north Dakota who was trying to turn a town into a white enclave and he got tested and it showed he had African genetic markers?

I say this because I'm reading a book about how light skinned blacks left the south and passed for white. Some of these people are 3 to 4 generations back being black. There are so many people in the US who have that "drop" of black blood. I had an aunt who " passed" married a Jewish man in Skokie, Illinois. Her children never knew their mother was black she had good hair, blue eyes and ivory white skin. My grandmother who was also white looking married a light skinned black man ( her daughter could have passed for white and did only at work. My mother could have passed but didn't want to be like her aunt who used to visit her sister during the evening while her husband was at work. I could have passed also but I am proud of my heritage and being a citizen of future. Because we are all mutts!
