NYPD: Brooklyn Construction Worker Alleges Cop Stole $1,300 in Cash, Pepper-Sprayed Him

The NYPD contends the officer took $62 and a cellphone before the man ran away, and the money and phone were vouchered at the police station, which the man has not picked up

A Brooklyn man claims a police officer pepper-sprayed him and robbed him of more than $1,300 in cash when he tried to intervene as a friend was stopped by police.

Cellphone video captured the confrontation just after midnight Sept. 16 when Lamar Joye was walking through a basketball court with friends in Coney Island.

Cops claimed that the $62 was vouchered but if the guy wasn't guilty, why take his money and phone in the first place? And it certainly doesn't look as though he was running away.

Whatever pathetic excuse the cop gives for taking the man's phone and money in the first place will be accepted as Gospel.
