he said we'd get a million jobs if we fixed bridges and roads. He's right - there is no comparison in the amount of jobs we'd get from Keystone compared to infrastructure.

If it's jobs the Repubs want - then they should be for infrastructure rebuilding.

We need to keep reminding them of that.

Every word PBO has said about Keystone has been measured and designed to cast doubt on its efficacy. He's been casting doubt on its ability to benefit the 99%.

Today was as clear as a bell: It's Canadian oil. It's going to cross our land. It's going to be sold on the world market. It has nothing zero nada zip zilch to do with gas prices in the US. Almost no jobs will be created.

But he's going to wait for the latest study to cross his desk, and then for the bill to be written and passed through both houses of Congress.

Then he is going to veto the sucker. But why would he want to borrow trouble in advance by telling the GOP that?

This is the Democratic way of achieving a long term solution to a problem. In 2 more years TransCanada won't even want to build it.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. of Riverkeepers, has said, even when being arrested for civil disobedience in front of the White House in an anti-Keystone protest, that he knew Obama would not sign on to it.

Why should he sign onto it?

He's been very consistent in delaying and resisting it. He has not only said what he said here before, but that it would add to climate change and the money made would not help the American people. Becuase it s not going to be taxed. The Koch brothers stand to DOUBLE their current net worth in one year's operation. They own ends of it and threatened PBO in 2010 if he didn't go along, he'd pay a political price. He did.

They launched the Tea Party to push this through and renew the Bush tax cuts. As soon as the Tea Party got the majority, they threatened government shut down for not going along.

It's going to be a hard road until 2017. They will keep pushing for it. He will resist. He's stronger and smarter than a lot of people think.

buying your way off planet and certainly enough for a viable population is a fairly long term project.

Anybody that has any extended interest in any portion of humanity then you can't just completely shit the nest.

For those of us that have a general concern for all people and even all life, it isn't a debate.

Sat Dec 20, 2014, 08:17 AM
Dec 2014
11/14/14--Backers of the Keystone XL pipeline became emboldened recently by the prospect of a Republican-led Congress finally pushing the project through.

But can dropping crude prices punch a hole in the controversial project?

The cost of benchmark West Texas Intermediate oil dropped to $74.42 a barrel on Thursday — a 25% drop from the triple-digit highs it reached this summer. Federal analysts have warned that producers in the Canadian oil sands — slated to be a top consumer of the pipeline — will need oil prices to stay between $65 and $75 a barrel to make production there economically feasible.

"Assuming prices fell in this range, higher transportation costs could have a substantial impact on oil sands production levels — possibly in excess of the capacity of the proposed project," said a U.S. State Department report on the pipeline released in January....
