If I had any doubt that voter ID laws are total bs now I know

I recently moved and had to renew my registration as well. I changed my address for my registration while I renewed and showed them not one thing to prove my new address. I asked about changing my licence and she said once I changed in on the registration I could go online and change the address there. I just did that. So bottom line, I was able to, without any proof of my address, change my address on my drivers licence. I have yet to reregister for voting but I don't think I have to show proof there either. So how does this prevent fraud again?

It doesn't. It merely intimidates voters. TreasonousBastard Dec 2014 #1

I think the rules would be different if you were.

Rule number one: give black and Latino, especially those that are poor or old or young student types.. give them a heck of a number of hurdles to register, and give them only 1/2 to 1/3 of the number of polling places close to their homes.

That's the only rule. Everybody else is fine (especially if white, middle aged, and upper middle class who hates paying taxes).

Going to prevent voter fraud. First you need to be registered to vote and once the line to sign in is filled then no one can vote the name again in the same election. If you early vote there is a mark by the name. This is a RW move against Democrats, it sure has not stopped.

It took two hours for the DPS office to figure out how to issue it. The clerk had to keep calling Austin for instructions.

It never expires, so I'll never have to go through that again.

you have to have one of those to vote. If you are married, you need marriage license for each marriage.
If you are getting your first license or ID, whether through being old enough or moving to Florida, this page tells you what to bring. Best to have a manila folder for all the stuff! I had to bring all of those things to get my license renewed this time, even though I have lived here since 1987. I used to renew online, but with the new rules I had to come in and show documentation.

Voter IDs are just one of many "reforms" under the GOP War on Voting.

For example, someone may have just moved here from another state. For one reason or another, things went out-of-control moved here then became homeless. Now to get a state ID in Arizona you need:

2 documents proving identification, 1 document of which has a photo.
3 documentsproving identification, if none of your documents have a photo.

Primary documents include:

U.S. birth certificate.
U.S. passport or passport card.
U.S. military ID card.

Secondary documents include:

Social Security card.
W-2 form.
Bank card.

This person is more than likely to show up at the polls than do a mail-in thing, likely to vote Democrat but can't.

This is just one example -- never about voter fraud--the goal is to have less voter participation because that is the only way Republicans win.

I hate the Texas voter suppression law and the only purpose served by such law is to suppress the vote.
