I hate agreeing with Rand Paul about anything.

As they jockey for possible presidential bids, Republican senators Marco Rubio and Rand Paul are taking aim at each other on TV, Twitter and Facebook over Cuba policy.

Paul "doesn't know what he's talking about," Rubio says.

Rubio is an out-of-touch "isolationist," Paul says.

It requires more of a conscious mental effort to maintain a
political philosophy like that than Rubio is capable of.

Rubio is just a stupid water carrying jerk.

He wants to sell Cuba to corporate interests, he doesn't care about the people.

I want Cuba to resist these interests, but it looks unlikely, given the hundred year leases they give out, and how privatization rules the day now.

We tend to treat politics in this country like they are sports teams. Our side vs. their side. We all act as if no one with an R after their name has any redeeming qualities as a human being and are consistently malicious and evil in intent. We can agree with Rubio or Paul on a specific point, but that does not make us full on supporters of either.

I agree with Rand Paul on his isolationist comment. But the chance of me ever voting for him to hold higher office remains slim to none.

Not the other way around.

Don't be fooled, even a broken clock is right twice a day. Rand Paul is still an eye doctor, maybe for real maybe not depending on which medical association you believe. And Gattaca come on ...

But maybe some of the other rethugs will need to pander votes and just maybe on a few issues they copy crazy Rand Paul on some of his liberal, err progressive ... well at least democratic ideas kind of ...

I don't care what conclusions Rand Paul comes to. I know the political world view on which he's basing his conclusions. And those world views (ie being a Libertarian) are wrong. So even if he's coming to the right conclusion, it's for the wrong reasons. So while he might be a useful idiot on the subject, at his core, he's still an idiot.
