Gas prices won't be this low forever, and US consumers are calibrated for $4.00 gas.
It is precisely now that R&D of alternative energy resources should be pushed aggressively. Waiting for gas prices to rise to $5 or $6 is too late - at that point, consumers can't afford it.
Tweak the gas tax monthly so that the average pump price stays at $3.

Gasoline is fucking stupid. We're setting fire to goo created by dinosaur corpses. That's some Special Ed behavior, not the decision-making one would identify with a technological intelligence.
