Yes I'm thankful to have health insurance under Obamacare

It has allowed me to retire without fear of losing my life's savings due to unforeseen health costs. Heck, it's allowed me to purchase insurance not through an employer which would have not been possible (preexisting condition) prior to Jan 1st, 2014.

But here's the deal...since retirement I've had three emergency right eye surgeries. Two detached retina surgeries and a cataract removed. The out of pocket costs have been substantial. We have a Silver level Blue Shield PPO plan. I pay 20% of negotiated cost. Sometimes more and a $65 copay for specialists. Plus the doctors in the ACA Coverd California network are very limited.

Now this upcoming year our combined income for my wife and I will be go up to about $55K. Our monthly premium will bump up from $328 to $550. And this is after a healthy subsidy on a $1200 plan.

When they say "affordable" I am thinking you need to be damn near poverty level.

This for-profit health care system we have is terrible and is still draining us all financially.

though there are health care conglomerates that contribute too. The system is not good for individuals, whether patients or providers.
