It's a very serious issue...

It is not a healthy situation when your police services start to feel threatened.

It has developed gradually into an "us vs them" mentality. The streets are wars. Just like Iraq and Afghanistan. And who knows, maybe all those wars that have been going on for so long have changed the nature of many police forces in the country?

Like war, it becomes about power and control. It is not about community. It is about power. We all must live in the community peaceably and that would include our much-valued police forces.

However, police forces must guard against becoming too militaristic. They are not paid for by Democrats or Republicans - they are paid for by "Americans". All of us, including themselves.

Which means that all our citizens must be treated equally. That means that all our citizens must respect the authority of those that put their lives on the line. And it must be a two-way street.

Even law enforcement. Some times it seems as if someone drew a big line in the sand.

not the letter. It was in regards to a license I was trying to get to sell used books. Other than that, the rest of them seem to be really tied up in the legality, never mind if it's not just or moral. Yep, that guy broke the law running a red light even though his brakes went out and he couldn't stop. Guilty.
