http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2311471-st-petersburg-bowl-2014-game-grades-analysis-for-nc-state-vs-ucfNC State University beat the University of Central Florida 34-27 in the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl.
IIRC Bitcoin is one of those egalitarian things with no single owner...so where did they find the (presumably non-Bitcoin) money to fund a football game?

(50,557 posts)NC State (which produces cotton farmers and marine biologists) went up against University of Central Florida (which produces physicians and hotel managers) in a football game that no one who didn't attend either school watched.

(50,557 posts)...but claiming either NC State or UCF need to be in a bowl game is pretty far-fetched too. Whatever happened to "the conference champion goes to a post-season game, everyone else stays home on New Year's Day"?
And come on...the Camellia Bowl? In Birmingham, Alabama? They played it on a high school football field! Which you could kinda do if the game was in Texas (Allen Stadium is pretty damned impressive) but Birmingham, last I checked, is not in Texas.

(62,411 posts)maybe the companies exist, maybe they don't. Maybe they are all fantasy companies. Hope those bowl games cashed the checks before they named them after those companies.
There was one on today - Ducks something - wonder if that had to do with those scammers down in Louisiana? Bowl games are way out of hand.

(50,557 posts)You'll see two lines of duck shit out there: Duck Dynasty and Duck Commander.
Duck Dynasty is the A&E television show based on the lives of people who make duck calls - a product I care little about and less about the people who make them, but lots of people dote on every word. Royalty money from those items goes primarily to A&E, but I would imagine the Robertsons get a piece of it.
Duck Commander is their duck call business. All the royalties from those items go straight to the clusterduck in the swamps down there.
And you're right, bowl games are way out of hand - but some of them would be fun to go to, like the Bahamas Bowl that is in Nassau.
