Books I read in '68: Soul On Ice by Eldridge Cleaver, The Wretched of the Earth Frantz Fanon, Auto-

biography of Malcom X. Preface To a Twenty Page Suicide Note by Leroi Jones (Amiri Baraka). I took a class in Black Literature and it had a profound effect on me. I am struck by the idea that these books need to be re-read these days.

purchased by my parents. I believe they had gotten them from the Book of the Month club back then. Also add "The Souls of Black Folks" & "The Philadelphia Negro" (Dubois), and "Before the Mayflower" by Lerone Bennett.
