He had a talk with his son.

Mayor Bill de Blasio loves his son. Most men do and they want to keep them safe. As a small child they want them to feel safe from the boogie man under their small beds to the monster that lives in their closet. Young children have their fears. We all did.

Never as a child would they believe they once again as an adult had to live in fear. Never would they have thought they would need to look over their shoulder in fear. Walk right, talk right, no sudden moves, lower your eyes and act humble. Do not reach into your pocket for you cell phone, do not touch your waistband, those seem to strike terror in our peace officers, if that is so that makes me believe they are completely unqualified for their job.

We had a funeral the other day for a peace officer, a person of color. Officer Ramos. The NYPD showed their disrespect for him by turning their collective backs on the Mayor. They showed their collective disrespect for a man that was chocked to death, Eric Garner. They mocked him with their contempt. They mocked his last words. Seventeen times he said "I can't breathe"! What did our peace officers do, the ones that swear to serve and protect?

EF! The NYPD. You are ugly simple minded people, you wear your hate like a badge. Oh wait, you wear that badge on your chest. Sadly you dishonor it.

I really want people to remember that Bill de Blasio was blamed for police deaths by virtue of being a responsible parent to a black son.

They brought shame on their profession by being dishonest and politicizing the support the mayor made for all children. The PD's children are precious too.

Why not bond together over that image of love, and shake hands?

The Koch/GOP/Libertarian gang want to discredit all sides in this NON-controversy. To be human and loving is not radical, it's a normal thing.

That hug for all the citizens of NYC. The NYPD have stepped on the hearts of the fathers and mothers who understand what de Blasio was doing.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

the reporting has been so biased against the "Black Lives Matter" movement, and the right-wing has exploited the tragic deaths of the two officers to try to smear and silence the movement ... I naively kept waiting for the MSM to confront the right-wing, to debunk their lies, expose their real agenda, and shame their deplorable antics. It was VERY frustrating.

The rise of #BlackLivesMatter protests in New York City over the last several weeks has given way to a deep schism between New York City police officers and, well, everyone else. Following Saturday’s heinous slaying of two NYPD officers who were out on patrol in Brooklyn, to say that divide has escalated would be an understatement. Now, it seems like the NYPD and their supporters have adopted the #BlackLivesMatter protest chant “I Can’t Breathe” and, in a stunning display of tone deafness, turned it into their own. On Friday night — just hours before Saturday’s tragic shooting — New York City police officers and their supporters arrived at a rally at City Hall in black “I Can Breathe” T-shirts.

The shirts take the last words Eric Garner, a Staten Island resident who was killed by a chokehold administered by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in July, and alter them to prove… what, exactly? That they’re on the other side of the law? That they have privilege other New Yorkers aren’t afforded?

As you can see, the T-shirts of the pro-NYPD protesters bear the same design — right down to the Comic Sans font — of the “I Can’t Breathe” T-shirts worn by NBA players Derrick Rose and LeBron James. Although the T-shirts may have been well-intentioned, the obvious mimicry makes the pro-NYPD protesters look like they’re mocking New York’s people of color communities. According to social media reports, the (mostly white) pro-NYPD protesters were also chanting, “Hands Up, Don’t Loot” as a response to the Ferguson chant, “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.”

Death silences so many. Grief is such a negating emotion. It does not translate into fighting words until the shock is over. Then one can inhale and say one's piece, be it loving or angry. There are no words in the moment, nothing equals death.

You got it spanone. These police officers do not give one damn about the people they are suppose to protect and serve. The fact that they wore those T Shirts speaks volumes. They proved their incapability of giving a rats ass about Eric Garner. His life means absolutely nothing to them. They demand respect, you give it then you will get it, not before that time.

Tears~

[p]words cannot express how I feel about this, tbf some of the blame should be shared with corrupt politicians who make back door deals with these guys just to get their support come election time in the hope that their dirty deeds will not be exposed by these bent cops, an act which should in itself be deemed illegal, but goes unchecked by superiors as it is considered a part of doing business in that part of the world making it an absolute necessity for all groups involved.

In the end the community suffers because there is no one out there who is seeking the interest of the people for the simple reason that these politicians that are elected by the people do not hold an obligation to them, but to people they've made a back door deal with, in essence the police force do not feel that they're obligated in protecting the community as their allegiance is not to the community, but to those who they have made deals with. It is for this reason that we see the rise of insubordination to higher command and the show of disregard to those they are sworn to protect. The complete disregard for authority should be alarming to everyone in this country as history have shown if this action goes unchecked, we will forever live to regret the day we ignore such action to begin with.

We've now seen how much it takes to cause the NYPD to shed that covering.

Not much, really. Just an honest comment, and they're ready to fight.
