A South Carolina City Police Department stands accused of tasering a severely autistic man as he attempted to visit relatives and neighbors on his street this Christmas Eve.

Officers were in the area, responding to reports of gunshots, when they saw the man walking on Sullivan St. towards Augusta St. According to the Greenville City Police Department, 34-year-old Tario Anderson wouldn’t listen to them when they asked him to stop three times and ran from from their officers.

"When they put their spotlight on him, he immediately put his head down, put his hands in his pockets and began to walk away from him,” Officer Johnathan Bragg with Greenville Police said. “They then got out of the vehicle and approached him and ordered him to stop at which point he did flee from the officers and they pursued him.”

Police then used a Taser to down 6 foot 8 inch Anderson.

What they failed to appreciate was that Anderson has severe autism. Now, no one expects police to be psychic, but it is fair for us to expect them to be responsive as the facts on the ground become clear.

The cops told him to be still. He kept twitching, so they charged him with resisting. See how that works?
