A rescue sanctuary outside of Austin, Tx had a pair of elder lions. They have a four acre enclosure and are well cared for. A 24/7 on duty Vet is part of the care system. The male lion passed away a couple of days ago, he was in his 30s. The lioness is very listless and calling for her mate. She is spayed so no worries about breeding. The sanctuary has an opening. If anyone knows of a lonely male lion who needs a great place to live out his life, PM me please.

(22,651 posts)A 'boyfriend' for the female will come along someday soon. Lions are social animals and she is so lonely for the past couple days. The sanctuary has several other big cats like 9 mountain lions but had only one pair of African lions.
The lioness is not young either, shes greying a little but only in her 20s heres her pic!

I know, it's supposedly certified and approved, but it's less than one fourteenth of four acres.

The sanctuary in OP follows these rules (link) which far exceed those older agencies minimum animal housing/care requirements. Our USDA still allows/approves puppymill cages and egg hens in 8inch cages.

Just a couple of house cats with delusions of grandeur.
