This is so weird, how could it happen?

My boyfriend was just in NYC visiting friends. He called one friend's mother, and got her answering machine. This machine has a screen showing the name and/or number of who called. The name that was displayed when he left a message was the P****** Family Trust ( I hid my last name there). How could his name and cell phone number be associated with my family trust? He's not on our trust. This seems so bizarre to us! Any thoughts?
Thanks

he knows of the existence of the trust, he is in my will. I think I'll email my lawyer and see if he can figure it out. It's nothing nefarious David has done, it's some weird tech glitch.

that had that name/data on it? I would bet Verizon has picked it up somehow through your remittances, etc. with them. They may have set his phone up when they initialized it with that as an ID name for it for some reason.

It sounds weird but not too alarming. If you're on the same account at Verizon, it's probably a shared data type thing. I had a strange thing happen with Verizon on our shared phones, and they shed some light on it -- forget what it was, I think some third-party call or something like that -- but Verizon answered my questions for me about it enough that it didn't worry me anymore.

the second phone (did you add a second line for a phone number for him?). Maybe they got that Trust name from your credit report...(?). When he calls you, how does his ID show up?

I suspect you cannot be totally objective here. Better to get the lawyer to investigate. There is a reason this happened, and you should definitely find out what it was.

but you obviously are in a relationship with David, and thus naturally your feelings, instincts, or whatever you want to call your judgements could be compromised. It's not bad, it's a natural thing. Better to let a uninvolved party make inquiries. That's what people should do in any situation that involves finance among people with close relationships.

I'm sorry if I came across as offensive. I was trying to offer good advice.

A few years ago, a neighbor behind me started playing very loud music with lots or base, all frikkin' day. After the third day started with more of same, I looked up his address in the county records, saw who it was registered to, and used that to get the phone number. He was sheepish when I called - he had just gotten a new sound system and his wife had warned him it was too loud. I complimented him on the quality, but asked if he could turn it way down, he said sure and that was that. No hard feelings.
Maybe your home is registered to the trust on the tax tolls, and that is where they got the name.

My guess is that you will find the trust name on it somewhere, and that by default all phones on that account are connected to the trust name.

People in the thread who are suggesting you privately call your attorney are being unnecessarily alarmist. It's an amusing puzzle that you'll figure out soon enough, but particularly since every time someone asked you questions that point to the kind of link I'm suggesting, you have confirmed the link exists.
