From the numbers, it's evident how effective Fox news is and how much work there is to do to win elections in purple states. Here's the link to top five hits on Politifact from 2014:
http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/politifact-floridas-five-most-popular-fact-checks-for-2014/2212424
1 " 'Florida Democrats just voted to impose sharia law on women,' bloggers say"-rated Pants-on-Fire
2 "Health insurance costs are skyrocketing under Obamacare, Republican Party says"-rated Mostly False
3 "Rick Scott 'oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in the nation's history,' Florida Democratic Party says"-rated Mostly True
4 "Did the rules of the debate say there would be no fan?" - no rating
5 "Lawmaker: Common Core testing company forces children to become 'as homosexual as they possibly can' " -rated Pants-on-Fire
It seems clear that these are obvious or even silly items (sharia law?!; Common Core teaches homosexuality!? Fans?!) that only can be coming from right wing propaganda. Remember the old adage, "Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still." Some of those people who don't like Politifact rulings simply discount the ratings (which admittedly sometimes don't go far enough to report the "facts" in order to be neutral), but typically are in the correct direction as seen above. As the article points out, these are not really issues about candidates, wall street, or military budgets for the most part.
The right-wing is doing a good job of stirring up their base; much better job than progressives in my view. Rather than worry about who will be our "most progressive" candidate in 2016, maybe liberals would be better served to spend all that time and energy getting out the word to average right-wingers (like my neighbors) who are honestly clueless and lied to every day by a powerful, well-funded media machine.

(23,946 posts)distracts them as a propaganda plan. It is too much to take in. They prefer their comfortable lies to the inconvenient truths every time.
The inconvienient truths need to be more comfortingly offered, with solutions....as Obama always says, "Get my back, then I will have yours".
Obama has the solutions, weneed to stand 101% behind him against the fascist Congress and press.

(7,759 posts)precinct to let people know that they must vote in ALL state and local elections. Many Dems do not even know that they can have a voice in who gets to elect or appoint AGs, Sheriffs, Council persons, School Boards. Dems need to educate civil duties, rights, and responsibilities at the grass roots level.

(5,213 posts)behind appointing Republicans to key administration positions? Are you standing 101% behind allowing torturers to get off scott free?
Blind loyalty is incredibly dangerous.

(5,213 posts)Response #1 stated that we need to stand behind Obama 101%. I asked if that extended to standing behind him 101% as he promotes the TPP, puts Republicans into his administration, and ignores those that tortured.
