"You have to know a lot of stuff"

Conservative Clown Car...AaallllAbord! "you have to know a lot of stuff"

- Ben Carson, a retired surgeon popular with Tea Party conservatives, has said he will decide by May 1 whether to seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, according to a media report. In an interview with NewsMaxTV last week, Carson said he is still studying various political issues as he weighs a potential run for the White House. "You have to know a lot of stuff," he told NewsMaxTV on Friday.

Tough threshold for a Republican?

If there were some requirement that everything they know has to have some connection to reality, truth, or at least supporting evidence, then it would be a tough threshold.

He did know, however, that it was unsightly, and something needed to be done.

You may be onto something that he didn't know how to achieve that result.

11. You don't really need to know a lot of stuff, in fact. That's what advisers are for.

You DO probably need to know enough to be able to make informed executive decisions. Which isn't always easy; JFK's "best and brightest", McNamara and Bundy et al, were responsible for the debacle of Vietnam with the "domino theory"; Bush's foreign policy advisers were responsible for the mess of Iraq and Afghanistan. Which is probably the result of foreign policy and military policy formulated by ideologues with little to no room for dissent.
