Chris Christie Pushed Port Authority To Give Contract To Jerry Jones' Firm

http://www.ibtimes.com/chris-christie-pushed-port-authority-give-contract-jerry-jones-firm-1774154

Less than two years before Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paid for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s tickets and travel to NFL games, government documents show Christie personally pushed the Port Authority to approve a lucrative contract for a firm part-owned by Jones. Christie nonetheless accepted the gifts from Jones, despite New Jersey ethics rules barring gifts to public officials from persons or entities that those officials “deal with, contact, or regulate in the course of official business.”

Is there no amount of corruption the people of NJ won't ignore?

Undoubtedly there is more.

It's like the PA is his personal cash cow/slush fund.

New Joiseyans might accept all his other corrupt acts, but to help the owner of the Cowboys... sheesh. Even Dallas fans hate Jerry Jones.

that this lone outlet reported the whole story.

There are reports about Jones paying for Christie to go, but not of the quid pro quo.

Why can't a US attorney go after Christie using the same statute they used to railroad Don Siegelman? Sounds like what Christie did was actually corrupt and more quid-pro-quo'ish than anything Siegelman did - which was judged as normal politics by over a hundred attorneys general.

And if they let Christie get away with this, then they should let Don Siegelman out right away.

In fact, fuck what Christie did. LET DON SIEGELMAN OUT ANYWAY!!!!!!

and a Federal judge and/or jury throw the book at him. Siegelman is rotting in prison on trumped-up charges while Christie is caught red-handed taking bribes -- on national television -- and he skates? Something's rotten in the state of politics.

that just sent former governor McDonnell to federal prison today. Christie was not in the owner's box because he was a big fan of the Cowboys. Christie was not flown, along with his family, at Jones' expense on Jones' private jet because Christie was his new bestest buddy. This was a "business entertainment" expense for Jones for somebody who has done him favors in the past and possibly in the future. O.K in business, but not for a public official.

But governor, pay your own way. As you said back in Altantic City when you were a prosecutor, the public should not have to wonder.

Here is an interesting assessment of this affair: http://www.nj.com/opinion/index.ssf/2015/01/christie_1.html
