A judge has lowered the sentencing guideline range for former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell to about 6 ½ years to 8 years in federal prison for his public corruption convictions.

The U.S. Probation Office had calculated a range of 10 to 12 years, which prosecutors agreed with.

U.S. District Judge James Spencer said Tuesday that an "obstruction of justice" enhancement shouldn't count toward those guidelines, saying McDonnell shouldn't be punished for giving testimony that the jury did not believe.

The enhancement would have been a fine appeal point. McDonnell should not be punished for giving testimony that was not believed....the enhancement should only come into play when it can be demonstrated that the defendant knowingly testified falsely.

They get nice job offers and cushy salaries right after they get out, even if they can't get reelected.
Unlike everyone else that can't even get a job because they are felon/former convicts.

No muss, no fuss, Scooter Libby had his right to vote and own a gun restored as soon as he completed his sentence.

Black Folks who do five years for smoking a splif never get their rights back.

They will exercise and lose weight, then each will write a book when they get out about the spiritual changes they went through in prison.
Both books to be plugged on Ellen's TV show within 2 years.

Is 2 years + probation anywhere near sentencing guidelines?

Earlier Tuesday, U.S. District Judge James Spencer lowered the sentencing guidelines for McDonnell from 10 ½ to 12 years, to 6 ½ to 8 years in prison.
