(turns out Facebook allows fake accounts after all; the original artist is Lucille Clerc. See http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/banksys-striking-illustrated-response-to-the-charlie-hebdo-attack-9964198.html )

(81,322 posts)Reminds me of that story about the fishermen who found where the starfish were gathered - and the fishermen didn't like what the starfish were doing to the shellfish population that the fishermen depended on, to bring to market. So they netted the starfish and went about ripping each star into pieces. All that did was multiply the starfish population exponentially because every one of those pieces regenerated into another starfish.

The royalties would go to their families and the killers would have their motivation blown back in their faces."

(8,702 posts)Unfortunately, news outlets won't stand up to christian right-wing nutjobs...what makes you thank they have any courage to stand up to muslim right-wing nutjobs?
At best they'll throw out some redmeat hate speech to generate a spike in sales and then move on to who deserves a rose tonight and pics of someone's ass.

(19,479 posts)The lower-case r is written the American way, not the way I was taught to do it.

(24,653 posts)I have corresponded in writing with a lot of people in both America and Europe (especially UK) over the years, and learned how to both print and write myself while in Germany. I don't notice anything that stands out as a particular Americanism here with respect to penmanship.

(19,479 posts)And I'm basing that on how I was taught. Admittedly, that was decades ago, and it could have changed in the interim.

However a spokesman for Banksy told the Independent: "We can confirm this is not by Banksy."
The drawing is actually by French illustrator Lucille Clerc, who posted the tribute on her official Twitter page after the shooting, which left 12 dead."

(20,219 posts)Assumptions.
We're so used to assuming that all things wise and brilliant are, as a matter of course, done by men. It's one way that women continue to be cheated out of recognition.
BRILLIANT statement, Lucille Clerc.

(20,219 posts)The mistaken attribution to Banksy could go in the text.....leaving his name in the heading as the putative artist does Lucille Clerc a disservice.
Thanks!!
