I actually filled up my tank for $15. That saves me about $20 per tank.

(1,348 posts)I was told it would be $8 a gallon by now.
I was also told I'd be living in an Obamaville, along with hundreds of millions of other Americans.

(21,475 posts)Wind will probably never run out nor will solar power but oil is not infinite.

again.

(3,208 posts)But since it was about 9 degrees at the time, I decided the gas in the tank will have to last a while (it was over 1/4 of a tank and I don't drive much) and I will just hope that it does not jump way back up before the temperature does!!!!

(205,467 posts)I needed over half a tank, so gave the clerk $40, expecting change, but it was only around $18. And New York is still one of the priciest states for gas, though it varies widely. Missouri still has the lowest gas prices in the US. I follow - and use - GasBuddy to find the best prices.

(667 posts)multi purpose price war just like the late '70's. Collapse the price of oil and sink the alternative energy culture. Sure this may take out Keystone and fracking but it will also destroy marginal wind, solar, and geothermal start up alternatives. Once you stampede the herd it is tough to get them back together. Electric car? Take the bus? Ride a train? Why bother? Maybe I am cynical but I have seen this movie before and I remember how it ended.
Imagine how much further along we would be if the solar panels had been left on the Whitehouse and we had continued with investment in alternative energy. Imagine high speed train corridors up and down the East coast, West coast and East to West, electric ZipCars available at the stations. Instead we got a BS about a "Shining City on a Hill" and business as usual.
