I think we are seeing the start of it going fascist.

There was a brief hiatus in the 1930's, when Roosevelt supposedly saved capitalism from fascism. Unfortunately, the marriage of wealth and power is not that easy to dissolve, and many fascistic policies have been re-instated, especially since Reagan. Contrary to some time lines, it didn't really begin with Reagan, it just hit the accelerator and there has been prescious little use of the brakes on it since.
