Hezbollah Chief: Extremists Harm Islam More Than Cartoons: "They Have Insulted Islam & Muhammad"

BEIRUT (AP) — The leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah group says Islamic extremists have insulted Islam and the Prophet Muhammad more than those who published satirical cartoons mocking the religion.

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah did not directly mention the Paris attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo that left 12 people dead, but he said Islamic extremists who behead and slaughter people — a reference to the IS group's rampages in Iraq and Syria — have done more harm to Islam than anyone else in history.

Nasrallah spoke Friday via video link to supporters gathered in southern Beirut.

Nasrallah's Shiite group is fighting in Syria alongside President Bashar Assad.

His remarks are in stark contrast to those of Sunni militants from the IS group and al-Qaida who have called for attacks on Western countries.

I am sure that the distinction he would make is territorial, between attacking people on your land and going to their land to attack them, between people who are attacking you and people who are not. i.e. defense vs offense, so to speak. It's not that he would object to any violence as such.

Nasrallah was dragged into the Syrian mess somewhat against his will, Assad is his link to Iran, and he is up to his eyeballs in trouble already.

could have told you the same thing. The Wahhabi are more dangerous than the combination of Ebola and malaria. The Saudi should never have started their stupid Islamic schools in Africa. Their enemy is humanity, secularism and anything not like them. They cannot be reasoned with and as they spread from Libya to Syria to Nigeria, they will leave millions of people dead and billions in damage to infrastructure.

God help us us if we can't contain this plague.

4. Very Interesting. Although I've never taken Hezbollah to be the terrorist bomber types.

It seems that during the 1980s, Hezbollah created a number of front groups that were little more than names for Hezbollah members to perform acts of terror but keep the Hezbollah name out of it. One of which, Islamic Jihad, performed a number of attacks including the Marine Barracks bombing.

It was found that Islamic Jihad was basically Hezbollah. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Jihad_Organization

Note that this kind of activity seems to have ended in the early 1990s as far as I can tell now.

people should pay attention. That is a huge statement coming from a group many consider to be a terrorist organization itself. It will take other Muslims to stop these radical groups. Outsiders really have no way of stopping it imo.
