It's inevitable that in the wake of tragedy, sorrow and mourning give way to think pieces, handwringing, and a flock of deranged conspiracy theories. Here, a guide to some of the most creative ideas about the Charlie Hebdo murders, proposed by everyone from Russian tabloid editors to a Turkish mayor.
"Magical Jews" orchestrated the Charlie Hebdo attacks to make Muslims look bad.
This one's reportedly popular in some Muslim-heavy French suburbs like Sevren, where many abstained from attending the weekend's massive "Je Suis Charlie" rallies for fear of retaliation. The Daily Beast spoke with Sevren residents who believe that the weapons and I.D. cards found at the crime scene were intentionally placed there to implicate Muslims. "It was a conspiracy designed by the Jews to make Muslims look bad," one man told the Beast.
Others the Daily Beast spoke to believed the event to be the work of enchanted Jewish people. Those who planned the attack are a "'hybrid race of shape shifters' who have extraordinary abilities," reports the Beast. "They know how to get in everywhere," one man said. "They are master manipulators."
The United States government did it.
According to the notorious conspiracy-theory cesspool Infowars, the United States government may have taken a break from planning the next Benghazi to "sponsor" the Charlie Hebdo killers. "Who ordered the attack against Charlie Hebdo?" asks French 9/11 conspiracy theorist Thierry Meyssan in a post on the site, pointing out that the Kouachi brothers' actions differ from a close-read interpretation of jihadist theory. "We should consider all assumptions and admit that at this stage, its most likely purpose is to divide us; and its sponsors are most likely in Washington."
Meyssan isn't alone in this theory. The front page of a popular Russian tabloid published yesterday asked, "Did the Americans plan the Paris terror attacks?" The Telegraph writes that this is just one example of a number of conspiracy theories regarding the attack and the U.S. government that have come out of Russia in recent days.
Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, planned the attack.
Melih Gokcek, the mayor of the Turkish city Ankara, said that he believed Israel was behind the shooting in order to "boost enmity towards Islam."
Mossad is definitely behind such incidents," Gokcek said, according to the Financial Times. He also drew parallels between France's moves to recognize a Palestinian state and the attack.

(53,994 posts)Oh wait, no I am not. It always strikes me as bigoted when these theories come out, not just for the blatant anti-Semitism, but the soft bigotry behind the insinuation that Muslims (sometimes Arabs, sometimes Africans), aren't capable of such things. It is a form of infantilization, IMO.

(68,644 posts)Truth is rarely comfortable, and as a skeptic of all things pushed by the media and the right wing, I tend to look deeper.
I don't believe that this event is about the cartoons; it was about making the biggest splash with the least amount of effort and Hebdo was perfect.
I believe that groups that stood to benefit, fringe groups, power groups, MIC groups, separately or in combination organized and launched this effort.
But it's not the Muslim faith, and it wasn't about the image of the prophet.
That whole story line is for suckers, and there is no shortage of them.
Just turn on the TV.

(115,681 posts)The cartoons were the excuse to hurt others with the goal being a number of possibilities ranging from recruitment, retribution and a war, to simply being assholes taking advantage of a situation. Saying the Charlie Hebdo staff were not victims in their own right but only as pawns, that goes into blaming them for their own deaths and where you lost me.

(68,644 posts)There are, on this very board, haters of religion who are unwilling to let go of the belief that the motive was purely a religious one as a reaction to the depiction of the prophet.
I was at first of the same mind, but as I read more and looked harder my opinions changed.
Still, haters of religion on this board are solidly going with the most simple conclusion, and that's OK, but it also closely matches what we are hearing from the usual suspects in the talk radio world.
There are just a handful of them, and they are angry with me this week.
Ah well.

(725 posts)Third, the propaganda machine of the AngloZionist Empire is telling us that "Islam is the enemy" or that "Islam is not compatible with western values". But to prove their point they use examples which prove nothing: the example of the Takfiri crazies unleashed, I will never cease to repeat it, by the AngloZionists. The merits and faults of Islam as a religion have nothing to do with the events of Paris. Nothing. Takfirism is to Islam what Nazism is to the Western civilization: a vicious and pathological expression of demonic hatred masquerading as the defense of a culture/civilization/religion. Nazism does not "prove" that the West is inherently evil and Takfirism does not prove that about Islam. Now, please pay attention, it *might* be that there is something really wrong (or not) with western civilization or Islam, but you cannot prove that by using the example of Nazism or Takfirism.
http://vineyardsaker.blogspot.com/2015/01/open-letter-to-saker-community-and-all.html
I would add the the "freedom of speech" thread running through this narrative is also BS. France doesn't have freedom speech. It has strict hate speech laws against insulting any religion or race as well as questioning anything about the holocaust. Brigitte Bardot has been prosecuted no less than five times for "offensive" remarks about Islam so how is it that Charlie Hebdo has been able to churn out not only offensive but downright obscene material in violation of those same hate speech laws?

(101,382 posts)since it's a virulently anti-semitic blog. So if you're implying that NYC_SKP thinks like that in any way, I think you should remove the link.
Or are you saying you agree with it? Post #38 makes it look like you are saying we should read what the vile blog says and consider it. Is that the kind of trash you normally read?
Boreal
(725 posts)"anti Semitic" about that blog. Yes, I encourage everyone to read everything, even *gasp* blogs that might give a Muslim perspective (not that that blog is Muslim, it is not). I routinely read all sorts of political opinion and perspectives, including foreign, as well some through translator sites. I even read writers and sites I never agree with, or downright hate, just to get a clear picture of what's out there.
What you are doing is trying to bully me and anyone else who might read whatever is not on your approved circle jerk echo chamber reading list (and I loathe bullies). That's fine if one wants to be a programmed robot instead of a thinking human being who exposes themselves to a wide variety of information in order to form a better rounded viewpoint.
Now, go ahead and take issue with what was written in that snip I posted, the main point being that it was the United States with it's support for the Mujahideen, which morphed into Al Qaeda, that began this world wide scourge of fanatical Islamic terrorism.

(101,382 posts)You point me to what you excerpted, and I see "the AngloZionist Empire" in the first sentence. Yes, that site is obsessed with Jews. That article, before it devolves into a begging letter, is raising the ridiculous 'false flag' nonsense.
Its argument about the US is not convincing. Yes, they financed the mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 80s. But they haven't done so for a long time, and they have had no influence with them for decades. To say a group in the west "is behind" all extremist Islamic violence is false. To call that group "the AngloZionist Empire" is anti-semitic.

(53,994 posts)From that site:
If you take the time to study the roots and evolution of what we called "Judaism", and which could be called something like "rabbinical/Phariseic Talmudism", you will come to the inevitable conclusion that modern "Judaism" is not the religion of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but the religion of Maimonides, Karo and Luria. This religion has *nothing* in common with the religion of the Jewish people before Christ, just as modern Jews, especially the Ashkenazim, have no genetic connection to the Jewish people of 2000 years ago. We are dealing with a fraud whose main effort is to prove that it is the real thing, just as the Papacy is trying to prove that it is "the" original Church of Christ while in reality neither one of them have their roots in the times of Christ.
http:// vineyardsaker.blogspot.com /2014/12/off-topic-but-apparently-needed-judaism.html
I am convinced that most of the so-called "anti-Semitism" out there is deliberately fueled by the 1%ers who are at the top of most Jewish organizations. Yet another reason not to fall into their trap and to categorically reject the crude and primitive anti-Jewish propaganda spewed by various racist groups or individuals and remember the words of Saint Paul "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Epistle to the Ephesians 6:12).

"There is absolutely nothing that he said that I can argue with .
Ukraine was/is occupied by the US.
His reasoning for the regional war in Europe that can only benefit the US, is spot on.
The Zionists not only don't care about the population of Ukraine, they clearly want them all dead.
No amount of casualties can slow them down.
Ukraine has only 0.2% of Jewish population and yet the government is 99% comprised of Jewish Zionists -this makes no sense.
This whole conflict is directed against Russia, China and Eurasia.
The Zionists hate Slavs because Slavs know more about Zionists than any other race on the planet.
The conflict is not designed to be stopped in Ukraine, it is designed to engulf as much of Europe as possible.
The fact that Russia has people like Glazev in the government is a very encouraging and hopeful sign.'

"All the zionists and quislings working for the empire are coming out to attack Russia. They must be desperate. Hope the Russians could liberate the rest of Europe from this evil empire chains, just like in the time of Czar Alexander'

(3,732 posts)The New World Order may or may not involve the Rothschilds, the CIA, or France itself running the False Flag in the name implementing greater National Security measures.
This all has something to do with France recognizing Palestine, Israel turning to Russia in retaliation, France making nice with Russia for fear of what Israel was doing, and then the New World Order (Illuminati Zionists) attacked Charlie Hebdo either to send a message to France to toe the line or to give France a pretext for those National Security measures and to attack Muslims.
Oh and Charlie Hebdo was targeted because they were mean to Jews and Catholics, too - Zionist and Vatican conspiracy rolled into one!
http://m.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/194698/Proof_Charlie_Hebdo_Attack_Was_a_False_Flag/
The fodder for Charlie Hebdo truthers has already outstripped 9/11 truthers. I don't think anyone believes the mainstream media accounts, so the real story is up for invention. I think political leaders will just fan the flames if they over react with national security or retaliatory measures which make it look like they were just waiting for an incident to whip out their dicks.
