The former Saturday Night Live star delivered some choice words for the president on his podcast, "The ABCs of SNL." The show is co-hosted by Kevin Smith and calls itself Live from the Jon Lovitz Podcast Theater.
The actor said hes a Democrat and voted for Obama, but now hes mad as hell at the presidents plan to raise taxes on the rich -- and his rant has the Web buzzing.
The comic called Obama a [bleep]ing a-hole... for saying the rich don't pay their taxes." Lovitz delivered his invective after assuring the audience I voted for the guy and even expressed admiration for Obamas rise from nothing. He had no father -- he is mixed-race, which is a burden
and the guy ends up going to Harvard, and he's the president of the United States.

I have no words for this. Well, actually I do have two words, but you can guess what they are.

(11,101 posts)He's not doing a "podcast". Looks like Jon Lovitz is trying to get the Miller, Jackson & Lovitz Crackpot SNL Hasbeen Tour up and running. Coming soon to a Flea Market near you.

But Lovitz as Jay Sherman on The Critic? Great stuff.

(21,977 posts)But he's pissed about anything that increases HIS taxes.
Frankly, I doubt he has much income these days, unless his podcast is a huge hit (I'd never heard of it) and people pay $$$$ to listen to it.

It's like me posting on DU and taking up the fight for intellectual property rights laws.
The only thing missing from his rant is "that's the ticket".

(146,317 posts)what John Lovitz thinks about anything, really. I'm trying, but I don't seem able to figure it out.
So, never mind, John. I don't care what you think. Nope.

(82,849 posts)But it really helps if there are facts to back you up, otherwise you just look remarkably foolish.
Case in point: Lovitz is all up in arms because he thinks that President Obama said "the rich don't pay their taxes." I'd bet a shiny nickel that Lovitz can't find an audiotape, videotape or reputable print report where Obama said anything of the kind. In fact, except for the well-documented instances of large corporations receiving fat subsidies on huge profits, I can't think there is anyone in the country who thinks that rich people don't pay their taxes. You go to jail for things like that.
What's being proposed is that wealthy people pay an extra three cents in taxes on their "earnings" above a certain amount each year. The threshold has been a quarter million dollars or a million dollars or some other amount. So, let's just say that Lovitz makes $5 million this year (Yeah, who's the comedian here, I know). That would result in an additional tax payment for Jon of between $120,000 and $142,500 on his earnings, the great bulk of which would not be subject to social security withholding.
When you put it that way (and I do), Lovitz looks like a whiny-ass titty baby.
