Alabama "attack" update: No indication anybody yelled anything about "justice for Trayvon."

It's looking like it was made up:

MOBILE, Alabama -- Mobile Police Chief Micheal T. Williams said this morning that investigators have not yet corroborated allegations that a Saturday mob attack on a white man by a group of black men was racially motivated.

The sister of the alleged victim, Matthew Owens, told WKRG that she heard one of the attackers say, "Now, that's justice for Trayvon," as he walked away.

Williams said that investigators have interviewed the sister, Ashley Parker, and the victim, and that neither mentioned attackers saying anything about "justice for Trayvon."

<...>

"He said that police told him that Parker was in the house during the attack and that other witnesses in the neighborhood didn't report any statement about Martin."

It also appears Owens was brandishing knives at kids:

It started with a game of basketball. Kids in the Delmar Drive neighborhood play almost every night, and Saturday their ball found its way into a yard down the street where Matthew Owens was staying.

Neighbors say Owens confronted the kids as they chased their ball.

"We said we're sorry," says David Dinkins, one of the kids playing. "He said 'get the F out of the yard!'"

Dinkins says that's when Owens started spewing racial slurs and pulled out two knives.

"It was like kitchen knives," Dinkins says. "They were long."

Facts are nice to have and it looks like they are starting to emerge.

Helpful tip: anytime Drudge and other conservative media outlets pimp stories like these, they are usually exaggerations or complete fabrications.

nut job brandishing knifes at young people playing basketball. He scares them and they run off and tell their parents. The parents probably more than a little bit fed up with having to deal with the ginsu master get together in a large group, find him and beat him senseless. In some countries this would be called justice. It sure doesn't look like a hate crime to me. Just a bunch of people protecting their kids. I guess we will have to see if they get any arrests.

It was not up to our normal standards and my only defense is it was done in the heat of the moment.

Looks like you just made a troll go haywire!

CONGRATS!

It is not amazing how many trolls are showing up lately to defend rank racism?

Anywho...my my and we learned that 'fuss' in this instance was yelling racist remarks at kids and pulling out knives...to do WHAT exactly?

NOT the 'fuss' my friends would get into when we were young. Not even close.

So...what do you suppose the mob goes from 30 to 3?

That is NOT a typical "get off my porch you dam kids!" no matter how the racists want it to be.

I called this out 2 days ago when I first read about the story - I compared him to that McCain campaign worker who said these big black men who were obama supporters carved the letter 'b' in her face.

Two days later we find out she made the story up.

Mind you, I do believe the guy was beaten up by the kids but I'm finding now that perhaps it wasn't just a random act, that the guy may have helped to instigate what happened.
