Proposed deal would restore wins for Penn St., Joe Paterno

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - A proposed settlement will give Penn State back 112 football team wins that were vacated two years ago in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.

If approved, the new agreement also would restore former coach Joe Paterno's status as the winningest coach in major college football history with 409 victories.

The NCAA announced the proposed deal Friday, weeks before a scheduled trial in state court on the legality of the 2012 consent decree it replaces.

Penn State trustees' chairman Keith Masser tells The Associated Press that board members will have a private discussion early Friday afternoon about the lawsuit.

He should be relegated to the trash heap of history. Complete scum. Paterno should be held just as , if not more accountable then his pedophile friend.

He testified before the grand jury that he KNEW something sexual had happened. He waited because it was the weekend before he did anything. He didn't want to bother people.

Sandusky child molestation scandal happens and gets 24/7 attention
Paterno gets implicated in scandal because he knew but didn't say anything
Tremendous pressure on the powers that be (NCAA, etc) to slap some sort of sanction on Paterno
They take away Paterno's wins because of all the attention this was getting in the press at the time - telling the family - when this blows over a couple of years from now - we'll reinstate the wins in the history books - in time no one will remember the scandal and Joe will get his credit.

Seems like this is what's happening.
