Only a few bad apples? Florida police uses mugshots of black men as target practice

If these are bad apples, when is it time to throw out the whole barrel?

North Miami Beach, FLORIDA — Members of the Florida Army National Guard showed up to a shooting range and found mug shots of African American men apparently used as targets by North Miami Beach Police snipers, who had used the range before the Guardsmen.

The Guardsmen were angry and one of the photos on the target was a Sgt.’s brother, a mug shot taken years ago, According to NBCMiami.com.

Police Chief J. Scott Dennis admitted that his officers could have used better judgment, but denies any racial profiling.

“There is no discipline forthcoming from the individuals who were involved with this,” Dennis said.

As others have said before me, this is beyond racial profiling, it is terrorism. How can any black man in North Miami Beach feel safe, when the police there are using classic desensitization tactics to make it easier to shoot black men, regardless of whether they are threat or not?

It is very clear that the whole department should be fired, from the police chief to the newest rookie, because they are so blatantly racist that they aren't even afraid to leave the targets behind. This police department is rotten to the core, and needs to be thrown out. Any police defenders who disagree?

It seem the entire US has a huge problem with racist police departments. Some are more obvious than others, but the murders of black men continues apace all over the US.

And yes, it is mind boggling that the police chief can claim that this isn't racial profiling - and no one really reacts. How can the DoJ not intervene? How can the civil rights of black men not be considered under attack? It reveals a deep and abiding sickness in Florida and consequently American) society that makes you want to hurl.
