Joe Paterno is now winningest coach

ESPN
http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/12179571/joe-paterno-111-wins-were-vacated-restored

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State's football team is getting back 112 wins wiped out during the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal and the late Joe Paterno has been restored as the winningest coach in major college football history.

The NCAA announced the new settlement with the school weeks before a scheduled trial on the legality of the 2012 consent decree it will replace.

The new deal also directs a $60 million fine to address child abuse be spent within Pennsylvania and resolves that lawsuit.

The NCAA board of governors approved the settlement, said association spokesman Bob Williams. The Penn State board approved it Friday afternoon.

a piece of shit pedophile enabler who's legacy should begin with that little fact. The harm he did far out weighs any tiny good he may be credited with. Shame on the NCAA, shame on Penn State, mostly, shame on JOE PATERNO pedophile by proxy. Put that on his fuckin' statue.

So obvious that $$$$ is far more important than the safety of children.

Reminds me of a joke Bobby Knight used to make. "The NCAA is so mad at Ohio State that they put Western Kentucky on probation for 3 years."

when the major conferences pull out of the NCAA and set up their own jointly controlled governing body.

Expect to see players get some compensation and the plantation mentality of the NCAA set permanently aside when that happens. The NCAA needs the big conferences a hell of a lot more than they need the NCAA.

How do they benefit from the team not getting credit for the games that they legitimately won?

Those kids were victimized by Jerry Sandusky. Joe Paterno, at the very least, turned a blind eye, which is also unforgivable. But the team did nothing wrong and shouldn't be penalized for it. Maybe I'm dead wrong, but that's what I think.

I know several PSUers. While they all agree that Sandusky belongs in prison, they see the true villan here as Louis Freeh.

Poppy's statement on Joe's death, well after his pedophile-enabling was know to the world:

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Joe Paterno. He was an outstanding American who was respected not only on the field of play but in life generally — and he was, without a doubt, a true icon in the world of sports. I was proud that he was a friend of mine. Barbara and I send our condolences to his devoted wife Suzanne and to his wonderful family.

Paterno and the Bushes go way back.

Had Corbett been serious about the allegations back in 1998, they could have thrown Sandusky in jail and this whole thing would have been a blip instead of the huge mess it turned out to be. Paterno's family should be suing the living hell out of Corbett, and the Penn State board.

There was no cover-up. There is no evidence of a cover-up. After three years of investigation where is the evidence? crickets... there is none. There were no enablers at Penn State. If you have any evidence please present here.
