Jeep and Nobel winners unveil campaign: Give peace a chance

CHICAGO Jeep believes promoting world peace can help it sell vehicles.
Today, Jeep unveiled two videos promoting world peace and humanitarian aid at the 2012 World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Chicago.
One video is a highlight reel of actor and humanitarian Sean Penn for his work in Haiti helping earthquake victims that also featured several Jeep Wrangler SUVs that were donated to the J/P Haitian Relief Organization.
Penn received the 2012 Peace Summit Award at the event in downtown Chicago.
The second video was filmed with several Nobel laureates who are in Chicago for the summit including His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet; former President of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, and Lech Walesa, former president of Poland.
Chrysler Chief Marketing Officer Olivier Francois said he is well aware that Jeeps sponsorship of the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates and related marketing efforts wont initially make sense to many people.
I mean, this sounds extremely idealistic: Why would a company like ours invest marketing money, commercials, air time and production supporting the idealistic message of nonviolence? Francois asked. For business reasons
there is no business plan in the world (that works) if the world fails.
I mean, how can you sell a car if people are not happy?

(100,081 posts)Let's see Jeep put their money where their mouth is and start electing and sponsoring real progressive candidates to office who represent the people and not the end times cheerleaders and representatives of the military industrial complex - that's how you change things.

On the other hand, the "peace" video is still available at the link in the OP.
