How does removing himself from the spotlight at this point give him higher earning power? Or do you think someone paid him off?

...to stop making enemies. The idea that he would try to do so uncoerced (or unbought-off)...well, I just can't fathom it.

and he only won 2.

He knows he isn't even qualified to be considered. He was Speaker of The House at one point. As much of an asshole that he is the guy can grasp some portion of reality.

I think he was got in it to try and cash in, then when he became front runner his ego stepped in and took over for a while. Now he is back to his original plan.


He was never a viable candidate, not even when he was ahead of everyone else.

.... still, there is a part of me that can't stand Newt getting anything of any kind. He's right up there with Grover Norquist on my list of people who I wish would disappear.

2. possibly a cabinet position .. or a non-cabinet position ... but he will probably
be some place within the admin.
