Chris Christie Sinks to Sarah Palin Territory

A new CBS poll shows 29% of Republicans would like to see Christie run for the Republican nomination for president. But 44% say no. Only former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s numbers are more underwater: 30% of Republicans say they’d like to see her run, but 59% disagree.

In contrast, 59% of Republicans would like to see Mitt Romney jump into the 2016 race, while 26% believe he should stay out.

is going to hoover up all the donor $$ and be the "moderate" establishment guy who wins the nomination. Christie is going nowhere, but a Mittens run is very plausible, he polls well among the name-recognition crowd (which is most people, who pay little attention to politics--looking at you, Hillary Clinton). Nonetheless, everyone in the GOP is telling him to shut up and go home, the decision has been made. It's amusing to watch everyone pile on Mittens.

Jeb et al. might actually embrace loser candidates playing 'Stalking Horse' roles until Jeb's boys decide the perfect time for him to charge in on his white horse to save the day; the essential ingredient of politics is timing

Romney ran twice, built a machine of sorts, has donors and supporters and national campaign experience. But, his loss in the 2012 general election has them all spooked and doubtful. That's why the GOP headmasters would rather not risk it next time around--they're just going to run a well-known brand name against the Dem well-known brand name.

The same mailing list Rove updated, exploited and expanded. Jeb has a very, very powerful political machine at his disposal, and very competent lieutenants well versed in the operation and maintenance of said machine.

I'm a cynic, but I believe the boys behind the curtain will make Jeb look like he is playing this game like a Maestro.

At least the group of Republicans that always vote for stuff no one else wants...I think it's 28%. They are certainly dependable and predictable.

Christie is their kinda guy.
