Solo's husband, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Southern California at 1:30 a.m. on Monday. Police said Solo, 33, was in the car at the time, but she was not arrested or detained.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Solo was held out of practice on Tuesday as it was determined if she violated any team rules.
"During our current National Team camp, Hope made a poor decision that has resulted in a negative impact on U.S. Soccer and her teammates," U.S. women's national team head coach Jill Ellis said in a statement. "We feel at this time it is best for her to step away from the team."

We're told Solo was "acting belligerent" in the car ... and pulled out her cell phone to record officers during the stop.
One source says "they were a major pain" ... and cops were thiiis close to arresting Solo for disorderly conduct.
We're told both Solo and Stevens were trying to play the dreaded, "Don't you know who we are?" card.
As for Stevens, we're told he refused to submit to a breath test -- so cops got a warrant to take him to a hospital to test his blood. Ultimately, cops were convinced he was wasted and arrested him for DUI.
The timing is interesting ... considering Solo was JUST let off the hook in a domestic violence case against her nephew and sister in which she was accused of going on a drunken violent tirade.

Just for the record...Jerramy Stevens is a piece of shit. You can look up his rap sheet if you want...DUIs, rape accusations, assault, the works....

She is a soccer pro charged with the same thing, but was not suspended.
But again, as you point out, most people don't even know who she is.

(6,342 posts)More people probably know who Stevens is. He played tight end for the Seahawks in 2005 when they went to the Super Bowl (lost to the Steelers). He also played a few years with Tampa Bay.
When he was in college he was accused of drugging and raping a woman. His semen was found in and on the victim. But charges were never filed. The victim sued him in civil court and they settled for $300,000.
Solo is the star goalie for the US women's team. She's a good athlete and holds several records in women's soccer. Just lately she's been going downhill in off the field stuff. Perhaps she's got an alcohol problem because it seems she's drunk every time she gets in trouble.

(51,308 posts)I had never heard of him.
Neither of them seem to rise to the "do you know who I am?" category lol.
Actually, I reckon if you have to ask the cop that, the answer is most likely going to be no.

(16,979 posts)You've never noticed that men's football dominates the news?
NFL>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>one female player that no one knows. That's the way it works. DUH.
And it wasn't Hope who got arrested -- it was HER HUSBAND. He was the one who got arrested. He.'s been out of the NFL for close to a decade. Agenda much?? Pffffffft
davidn3600
(6,342 posts)So yeah, she's kind of important in the world of sports. Lots of girls look up to her.
And in other words, you are declaring that only male football players who get in trouble can be discussed? People who don't watch football have no clue who Jameis Winston is. People who do watch football, do know who he is. Just like anyone who watches soccer knows who Hope Solo is.
And by the way, it was TMZ that broke the Ray Rice video tape scandal.

(16,979 posts)So now you're an expert on her and put her on par with NFL stars.
Fail.

(5,158 posts)and pull the "do you know who we are" card.
Got news for 'em. No one gives a rat's behind who they are. They put their pants on the same way we all do, one leg at a time. The ability to catch a football or stop soccer balls from going into the net does NOT make you a better person than anyone else, and it certainly does NOT make you above the law.

(51,308 posts)They're no better than anyone else, but they sure as hell get special treatment.
A good percentage of the NFL is playing with records that would have put any average man in jail, or prison.

(6,342 posts)But I don't think using the "do you know who I am" card really makes a cop reconsider what he's doing.
They've arrested NFL players and celebrities several times.
Terra Alta
(5,158 posts)though in this case it doesn't seem they were let off the hook quite so easily. She got suspended for 30 days, and he got a DUI. Maybe it will teach them both a lesson, though I have my doubts.

(62,325 posts)everyone should be above the law. Maybe she noticed that War Criminals and Wall St Criminals and cops who murder young African American men, are above the law.
Frankly good for her. What's good for the Elite is good for all of us imo. Unless some day we restore the rule of law for everyone.
I'm surprised at the outrage over something so trivial in a country that has abandoned the rule of law for far, far more egregious acts. Actual CRIMES against humanity. All she did was to be obnoxious, no crime.
Don't get me wrong, if we were a civilized nation that upheld the law for the privileged, applied it equally across the board, Cheney would long ago be behind bars, among so many others, then I could get excited over the obnoxious behavior of a soccer star.
But in our culture, where we 'move forward from torture' and even make excuses for the torturers, I wonder why anyone would be upset over a Soccer player acting like a jerk?

(16,979 posts)Stick a fork in 'em, 'cause the engagement between KC Chiefs QB Aaron Murray and smokin' hot news reporter Kacie McDonnell is over ... and it doesn't sound like there's any chance of a reconciliation.
Their love story became national news ... when she left her job (a great job) as a reporter in Philadelphia last year and moved to KC to be with Aaron who was drafted by the Chiefs.
Kacie got a job in news in Kansas City and everything seemed to be perfect ... until McDonnell made this shocking announcement:
