Howard Dean will headline a fund-raiser for the Ready for Hillary super PAC in Manhattan next month, sending a message to donors that the liberal former governor of Vermont is fully behind a run for the presidency by Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Mr. Dean, who was the liberals champion during the 2004 presidential campaign, endorsed Ready for Hillarys efforts on behalf of Mrs. Clinton last year. The fund-raiser, to be held Feb. 5 at the Fifth Avenue home of the Democratic donor Jill Iscol, is another sign that he will not use his influence on behalf of Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, this years great liberal hope.
Ms. Warren has insisted that she will not run, but several activist groups have started efforts to draft her as a challenge to Mrs. Clinton from the left.
It will take a $1,000 contribution to attend the Dean fund-raiser, $2,500 to become a member of the host committee, and $5,000 to be a chairwoman or chairman of the event.

(15,438 posts)She doesn't have that kind of name recognition yet. She also understands that, although she's very popular in Massachusetts and in the Liberal blogosphere, she won't get that kind of love across a nation that's wary of anything progressive - because M$M, flushed with billions of dollars of lying ads, will tell them to be.
That would mean that we can see another Bush or 0.01%er in the White House - with a Republican House and perhaps even Senate. This would kill her Consumer Financial Protection Bureau even before it could really take off, and it would kill health care reform, most likely put two or even three more pro-corporate Republicans in SCOTUS, and more war in the M.E. It would stop job growth, perhaps even reverse the minimum wage hikes currently popular in States, and a Republican president and House will do everything they can to UNdo everything President Obama has worked so hard for to get through. I don't believe she'd want that kind of responsibility - or blame.

(5,213 posts)his economic policies are 1980's Republican and that in many ways Nixon was more liberal than he is?
Third Wayers are hilarious when they try to define "center-left".

(15,438 posts)Name recognition has everything to do with it. You didn't think the majority of Americans voted for candidates based on politics and knowledge of their positions on issues, did you? Just look at how Duhbya damaged the Bush family name that Jebbie Bush gets beat by Mittney among registered Republicans, for chrissakes.
