Family groups on the left and right support "socialism" (EITC)
Family groups aim to save child tax credit
By Bernie Becker
Family groups from the left and right have started lobbying on a child tax credit that is set to shrink at the end of the year...With Republicans on Capitol Hill keen to slice the budget, the organizations are stressing that the credit is a lifeline for keeping children out of poverty.
These two credits are the closest things kids have to Social Security, Bruce Lesley, the president of the child advocacy group First Focus, said about the child tax credit and the earned income tax credit. And even so, they account for just a fraction of the costs of raising a child.

The Family Research Council, a prominent social-conservative group, circulated a Tax Day petition that urged Congress to not only extend the credit but also expand it.
We can expect lawmakers to pontificate about fairness and take a few election-year roll calls, but dont expect any serious efforts to be made in addressing this important issue, Tony Perkins, the groups president, wrote to supporters. That is why we need your help.

Basically, that's proof the Republican/RW "socialism" argument and attack on social programs is bogus and represents pure hypocrisy.
Will Allen West label Tony Perkins a "Communist"? Inquiring minds want to know.

Strengthening the EITC
The 2009 Recovery Act (ARRA) temporarily expanded the EITC in two ways. First, it added a "third tier" of the EITC for families with three or more children. This year, these larger families can now receive up to $655 more than they would have without this improvement. This addition recognizes that larger families face a higher cost of living and that families with three or more children are more than twice as likely as smaller families to be poor. Second, the Recovery Act expanded marriage penalty relief in the EITC, reducing the financial penalty some couples receive when they marry by allowing married couples to receive larger benefits.
In 2010, these two expansions together lifted an estimated 500,000 people out of poverty and reduced the severity of poverty for approximately 7.3 million people living in poverty. They originally were scheduled to expire at the end of 2010 but Congress has extended them through 2012.
