We are all slaves, really. We walk around talking about living in a democracy, we are made to believe we have choices....just how many different kinds of disposable razors do we need anyway?
Very very few of us could wake up tomorrow and decide to do something completely different without a care to $$, unless our basic needs can continue to be met by someone else, but that's not freedom either.
And it all revolves around $$. We are born and trained from day 1 to grow up and learn how to be a good little cog in the wheel, and compete to be the best little cog in the wheel.
Why the best? Because if we're not, we don't get enough $$, we suffer, and may even die. Winners get the $$.
That's kind of where I am today. Thinking about what a huge lie our 'freedom' actually is. People aren't supposed to live like this; every decision made based on $$, on what they have to do, instead of what speaks to their heart.

(4,259 posts)I believe you're right. I've felt the same. (..feel the same).
But there are times when I can let that all fall away ... when I'm with the people I love. With my brand new grandchildren.
(Ironic, though...they will be in the same kettle of fish when I'm gone)
Wow! Think I could go for a drink.
While I've seen many similar threads in the past, nobody ever suggested a workable solution. What's your idea?
