And as I often tell right wingers to no avail, when the depression occurred, people did the same. They expected the government to do something. People want the government gone when things are good, but aren't willing to let the market alone when things turn bad.

and Gov Patrick issued the travel ban, there were people saying on one of the Boston tv stations FB page that no one was going to tell them that they can't drive.

Opposed to government handouts? Don't claim the mortgage deduction when you do your taxes.

Their mouths are bigger than their hands, and thus would hold more snow.

They wouldn't hire just someone, they would hire an undocumented worker. Don't have to pay as much.

Weather Channel might name a massive snow storm Cupid someday, but I'm not sure it means love would be headed toward city and county government.

I seem to remember the hate stemming from the fact that the mayor's cronies got the snow removal contracts - and then forgot to remove the snow. But I could be wrong.

They want their snow plowed pronto, but if you ask them how we are supposed to pay for it when road salt went up 75% in the past year, they often say that they don't care, they just want the roads plowed.

is "I pay taxes!".

Yeah, but most of your taxes went to military contractors to pay for tanks the army doesn't need, and the rest went on a pallet to Iraq.

People against taxes and government talk a good line. Problem is the only problem they have with it is when it doesn't benefit them. As long as they get theirs and no one else does, that's all that seems to matter.

plowing our roads, repairing our utilities, doing all it takes to take care of us during stormy times. I really admire their dedication and willingness of those individuals who go out in the worst of it to make things safe and comfortable for the rest of us. Anyone who doesn't appreciate that is probably just a self-absorbed republican who thinks it happens magically without the sacrifice of human beings or tax dollars.
