After tens of billions of dollars were placed into the USPS Pension System, they are ripe for acquisition.
Since there were numerous articles about the possible transfer of the USPS to a Private Equity company, with Bain being mentioned in many of the articles, and the risks of having the USPS Pension System raided--relying on taxpayers to replenish.
Perhaps, Romney isn't running because of the possible conflicts with Bain or another P.E. he might be associated with, seizing the USPS.
Your thoughts?

(13,877 posts)that they didn't want him pilfering the cash kitty there for a political run. Seems Jeb had a come to Jesus meeting with him...of course the Bushes know all about that kind of thing...and Mitt withdraws with a not-so-subtle swipe at likely Jeb, but most of the current lineup.
The news folk were absolutely shocked.

(11,238 posts)His old campaign manager has already signed up with Jeb Bush. Only ONE of the 52 biggest money boyz in the country is willing to back him; Murdoch can't stand him; the Kochs already have their boy in Scott Walker. Romney wouldn't be able to raise enuf money to get thru a bruising primary AND a general. No, it's a simple case of money talks, bullshit walks.

(42,641 posts)As a recently retired USPS employee, the Headline caught my eye. FYI: The USPS is part of the Civil Service Retirement System. It has an enormous surplus and is in fact over-funded. All civil service retirees are paid from the same pension fund.
Yet another reason to oppose privatization of the USPS.
