Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato.

a good friend gave me this gift yesterday:




and we sat on the porch and discussed:

Guess this news that potatoes have more chromosomes than people means we need to revise our understanding of humanity's place on this planet.

But they are mostly duplicates, and serve no role in the physical characteristics of the organism.
