So, poor people without enough money just have to work harder...

But if we do something to decrease the income of the Rich, like higher taxes or increase the wages of their workers, they will stop working?

That is the basic GOP stance. Does something seem out of balance?

The truth is that Republicans support programs that benefit the wealthy and corporations (not to mention wealthy corporations) above all else. Any Argument that furthers that works for them.

They do tend to believe that poverty in America isn't caused by the system but by the individual morality of the poor - i.e. if they were good worthwhile people they wouldn't be poor. But when you square it around to the theory that if we don't coddle the rich they will run off, it doesn't really make sense.

is they have been allowed to make the dialog about how much the wealthy can make and not how little the poor have.

When the Country had an upper class with less wealth and income, we did fine, but we all suffer when the bottom half suffer. (well, all but the 1%)
