Source: Addicting Info
While a measles outbreak grips the US and health professionals seek to stem the tide, anti-vaxxers have published a book to convince children that the deadly disease is marvelous.
Melanies Marvelous Measles is available on Amazon, and sets out to persuade 4-10-year-old children that the measles is actually pretty fun, has no serious possible side-effects, and is something kids should look forward to getting.
The book includes such inspired medical advice as :
* measles is easily avoided by drinking melon juice
* vaccines weaken the human immune system,
* getting measles strengthens it (as does melon juice).

(15,429 posts)The stupidity of the anti-vaxxers is astounding. There is absolutely no reasoning with them. All they will understand is if the state removes their children for the abuse they are engaged in and then imprisons them for their abuse.

(19,460 posts)Melon juice? I think the author may be confusing measles with freckles. Oops! Am I bad? That would be lemon juice, also proven to not work on freckles.

(30,058 posts)Perhaps they can write a book which explains how Melanie's death from measles is marvelous in the parents holding strong in advocating anti-vaxxers stand on vaccines is well worth standing by their policy? This is a blunt reply but some needs a wake up call.

Please note that the following description is provided by the publisher/author of this title and presents the subjective opinions of the publisher/author, which may not be substantiated. The description does not express the views of Amazon.
The author/publisher writes: Melanie's Marvelous Measles was written to educate children on the benefits of having measles and how you can heal from them naturally and successfully. Often today, we are being bombarded with messages from vested interests to fear all diseases in order for someone to sell some potion or vaccine, when, in fact, history shows that in industrialized countries, these diseases are quite benign and, according to natural health sources, beneficial to the body. Having raised three children vaccine-free and childhood disease-free, I have experienced many times when my children's vaccinated peers succumb to the childhood diseases they were vaccinated against. Surprisingly, there were times when my unvaccinated children were blamed for their peers' sickness. Something which is just not possible when they didn't have the diseases at all. Stephanie Messenger lives in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and devotes her life to educating people about vaccine dangers and supporting families in their natural health choices. She has the support of many natural therapists and natural-minded doctors.

(41,989 posts)I can't.
Every day I go to work, (RN) I'm exposed to something. Mostly, I have immunity, although I had to get a pertussis booster and take antibiotics after an exposure to whooping cough. Measals has hit Washington state-- it's just a matter of time.

This review is from: Melanie's Marvelous Measles (Kindle Edition)
I've been having a hard time finding a way to tell my children why they have to suffer through dangerous and potentially debilitating diseases that were almost eradicated by Vaccines. Thanks to Melanie's Marvelous Measles I now have an easy reader guide that makes me eldest feel less down about the fact he's been crippled from Polio. Apparently telling him"Your grandfather had it in the 1920's and he lived to be 52 thanks to a weakened heart" just hasn't cheered him like it should.
Chloe, my 3-year was worried about the horrible scaring that came along with her case of Rubella. "Don't worry dear," I told her, "Remember Melanie's Marvelous Measles? Melanie is more beautiful for her scars. If you kids don't get sick, how else are we going to go on to build a glorious master race?" Unfortunately the Encephalitis she suffered from the high fever the measles caused means I have to repeat this over and over but the little girl on the cover gives her hope, and really, what else can we give our children?
In fact, Melanie's Marvelous Measles has inspired me to seek out and expose them to a variety of diseases that previously only effected poor, underdeveloped countries.
Think of the unique life experience the bubonic plague could bring? To bad Small Pox is so hard to get, those horrifying blemishes they leave would be a real conversation starter for myself and my horribly misshapen children. If you think about it, really, I'm giving my white, middle-class, suburban offspring a great chance to understand equality in a way my college professor assured me Carl Marx would appreciate. After all, what unites the proletariat like sickness? It's also a great chance to teach them how fun poverty can be. Just think of all the unique, money saving techniques we can devise so we don't have to contract Dengue Fever in a 4-star hotel.

by idoubtit January 28, 2015 7 Comments
In an update to this story earlier this month about an anti-vaccination informational tour, Anti-vaccination campaigner Sherri Tenpenny cancels Australian tour The Guardian.
Eight venues had cancelled because of opposition, mainly by parents, to a message that did not support childrens health. However, the Tenpenny party said something much different and highly questionable.
The controversial US anti-vaccination campaigner Sherri Tenpenny has cancelled her Australian tour following weeks of public pressure, blaming anti-free-speech terrorists.
On Wednesday night a joint announcement from Tenpenny and the Queensland-based tour organiser, Stephanie Messenger, was published on Facebook outlining their reasons for cancelling.
