Dad Refuses to Give Up Newborn Son With Down Syndrome

http://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/dad-refuses-give-newborn-son-syndrome/story?id=28756025

When Samuel Forrest of Armenia heard a baby crying from outside his wife's hospital room, he knew his life would change forever.

Not only had he become a father, but he would soon receive some unexpected news about his newborn son.

"This pediatrician walks out of the room with a little bundle -- that was Leo," Forrest said. "She had his face covered up and hospital authorities wouldn't let me see him or my wife. When the doctor came out, he said 'there’s a real problem with your son.'

That mother just has a twisted concept of what parenthood is all about. Some parents just kind abide by the possibility that their child is not "perfect": 100% healthy, straight A student, athletic, popular and no behavioral problems. That's just not going to be in the cards for all children, but it need not mean that the child will grow up to be a loser--if he/she has good parents.

I'm glad the father is getting that GoFund me money. A lot of other parents with challenged children won't have that.

because few have the family resources it takes to raise them. This is the culture the wife was raised in and it makes perfect sense to her.

Down's kids have a wide range of limitations and nearly all respond to positive intervention. They can also be an absolute delight to be around since they lack the capacity for being mean.

I hope the wife comes around once the baby blues have departed. I hope Forrest is up to the challenges. I hope the baby lives to his full potential. I hope...

I worked in a daycare, and that was certainly not the case.

where he will be more likely to be able to take care of the child. but even then he is raising money to help raise the child.

this type of article is written to make the mother look bad without considering, culture, poverty etc.
