Not entirely sure how this suddenly went international today, but the story today: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2135987/School-principal-quits-student-secretly-films-steamy-kiss-secretary-posts-footage-online.html
Normally this kind of story would be one of those "Ehh, whatever" type to me, but the man in this story was my first boss. He was the guy who took a chance on an unproven young teacher. At the time I had a lot of respect for him. The school is a very small charter school of about 100 students. I had a rough time there as a new teacher. While I was there I had every window of my car smashed by some students and nothing was done. A student threatened me with severe bodily harm and implied murder and nothing was done. Eventually he told me that he was not going to renew my contract and the best irony of this story is that the person he hired to follow me was....his wife. I'm torn between feeling guilty for my Schadenfreude and feeling like karma is giving him a little kick in the pants. Ultimately, I'm glad I'm no longer at this school. I suspect that the school's operational charter which is under appeal to remain will be denied thus removing the only local high school for the students of that incredibly economically depressed rural area (the nearest school is more than 90 minute bus ride through the desert away). If by some miracle the operational charter is approved, the school's lease of the land in Quartzsite is up for renewal and with a tea party heavy local government (to my understanding) who are all up in arms about this scandal, I think the school's time may be limited.
