Edwards in 2016???

If Edwrds survives his current travails, is it even remotely possible he could run as a PROGRESSIVE anti-establishment independent? Edwards has worked. Closely with the unions even back when he was a lawyer. The unions have expressed feelings of being ignored/thrown under the bus, WHATT IF they threw their support behind another establishment outcast like Edwards? Along with support perhaps from the Occupy movement and like organizations? Woooooooooo! Wooooooo!

If he did chance it, the media would remind the people repeatedly. Instead of John Edwards, it would be John Edwards who fathered an illegitimate child, whose wife succumbed to cancer. Nobody would be allowed to forget.

many were very disgusted because they were low income folks who really believed in him and sent in donations they could barely afford. He blew that trust and I believe it would be impossible for him to run again. It's too bad because he was one of few to actually talk seriously about class.

There was no way I was going to vote for Hillary or Obama in the primaries, so I went with him (by that time Mike Gravel had dropped out). As the primaries went on our prospects for someone left of center dwindled, imo.

Mike Gravel had some seriously fucking awesome positions and had a better chance than Dennis Kucinich. But whatever.

not including the word "Carolina" in it. If he couldn't get support when he was part of the "perfect couple", younger and better looking (more important in his case than most) and when he was not seen as having baggage.

Now, I suspect that his chances are on a par with Lindsey Lohan's - and she has a possible future as an excellent actress if she gets her act together.

Edwards was not a policy wonk who could do valuable work in the background - he was essentially the "frontman" who could sponsor that work - now he can't do that because no one trusts him.

Edwards was NOT pro-union as a Senator - much the opposite - nor was he an outcast - until his behavior made him so.

to take the side of a lying little narcissist jerk who betrayed his wife when she was dying of cancer. I just wanted to clear that up since in another thread you said there are always two sides. Yes, there are two sides to every story, for example, Charles Manson has his side of the story as well about his cult murders. 99% of the people though, don't want to take his side or hear his explanations. Hope that makes sense, the point is an easy one to understand really.

Even though the current crop of Democrats is only marginally better than the Republicans, I still think there are better options than Edwards. The guy's a totally immoral asswipe! Come to think of it, with those kind of credentials maybe he should run on the Republican ticket. Compared to them, he'd look like a saint. It'd be like giving their party a much needed facelift.

He's a stupid asshole. This isn't 'Democrats eating their own,' it's regular people seeing a hustler for what he is. For all the talk about how stupid the common man is, they know a fraud when they see one.

And when people like me and my partner, who loved the guy, who thought he was the answer, who really bought his whole spiel-when we sneer at his name or spit at his mention, then you know he's way, way past done.

He had his chance and he fucked it-quite literally fucked it. Enjoy the life you made for yourself, John-hope its all you dreamed it would be.

I can understand why he would gravitate towards edwards because of his pro-labor stance. And, we've got some democrats that have been very anti-labor, pro-corporate; however, edwards is toxic. Also, I believe edwards was one who helped create the patriot act after the OKC bombing. It just needed to be dusted off and reintroduced--some in congress were salivating to pass that bill.

What edwards did was reprehensible. However, with all the public crying about family values by the repugs, I see newt's still in the public eye and diaperman. Spitzer gone, diaperman still there.
