Having To Fight The War For Women's Rights All Over Again Is Just Criminal

Women have been fighting for equal rights and the right to vote for 150 years. Great strides forward were made with the passage of suffrage and the right to vote. Great strides were made during the "bra burning days" of the feminist movement and the right of women to control the size of their families and their reproductive health care. Roe V Wade was the right decision. And turning it back cannot be tolerated for even a heartbeat.

Now a new generation of women is faced with fighting a war for their rights that their mothers and grandmothers and great grandmothers fought all over again. It is not right and is an affront to common decency. The GOP has absolutely no sense of decency. And they should be run off the political stage. They seem determined to push women back to the Stone Age.

This new assault on women's rights cannot stand. As a many I fully support the rights of women to make their own choices without interference or requirement of counsel by any entity. I support the passage of the ERA that will settle all of these issues. There was great hope for women during the ratification process of the ERA until the GOP and RW stole that promise and that dream. Force the politicians to bring it back and force and up or down vote on it. And lets see how many men have the BALLS to vote for it.

The antics of the GOP should bring out the full fury of all women and there should be no place to hide from their wrath. Shakespeare wrote in one of his plays that there is no fury like the fury of a woman scorned. The GOP should see that fury and not just at the ballot box.

I can assure you that these cowards will never give up until they are confronted face to face. The GOP is like a rapist in the night.
They will steal a woman's dignity by any and all means necessary.

I think the new law in Tennessee is absolutely the last straw or it should be. The GOP is doubling down and doubling down every single day with new restrictive legislation somewhere in the country. The GOP should be routed and sent packing in fear.

IT IS THEY WHO ARE CONTINUING TO PROSECUTE THIS WAR.

I have this on good authority from historians of the US women's movement and feminism.

It started with the 1968 Miss America pageant in Atlantic City. A group of women wanted to burn a variety of accoutrements in a trash can on the boardwalk (bras, but also nails, hair, etc.) They were prevented from doing so by the police. Somehow this non-event became a cultural cornerstone that really never was.

We didn't burn them, but many of us took them off and discontinued wearing them in protest of being confined by societal norms. Needless to say, that's changed as we aged!

As many others were. The hybrid of religion and GOP political king makers in the Reagan years fertilized the seeds with violence and fear. They stayed underground for a while and in the new century they sprouted.

The full plant will eat up all the progress we've gained if we don't cut it back now. I hate to describe what I believe will happen when this flowers and goes to seed. It's too horrible to contemplate.
