When you look at what the GOP is all about you have to look absolutely everything they do and say down to the littlest detail.
I think that what happened in Colorado in one of the recent legislative session is the most telling of all about what kind of despicable vermin Republicans are. And it should also even have Republican women take notice. The GOP should get zero votes from women. And the fact that 40% of women would still vote GOP is just unbelievable.
There was a bill introduced in the Colorado legislature that would have made female mutilation a crime. The GOP in its divine wisdom KILLED that bill. I guess it was too much government intrusion on cultural practices. Such legislation should pass by acclimation.
What is more ominous is that the GOP will probably support a new amendment initiative being pushed by "Focus On The Family" that will essentially say that "government shall pass no laws that interferes with a person's practice of their religion".
Think about such an amendment that is probably being suggested in other states as well. Such constitutional amendments would make it illegal to pass laws that would stop VIOLENCE against women. And we know there are many kinds of violence being done to women for many reasons.
Somehow supporting violent cultural practices against women by stopping necessary legislation to stop such egregious actiions shows who the GOP really is. It is not just about reproductive rights.
The GOP shows in just about every way possible that "women" do not matter. So I still cannot understand why 40% would vote for any Republican.

Does that mean that if I start a sort of Rastafarian cult with psychedelic-enhanced communion services I can hand out stuff like pot & Little Brown Mushrooms to the congregants?

(10,602 posts)Theoretically the answer would be yes. I have not read the language of the amendment they plan to push forward, but it is so wide open I assume you could use any religious practice.
It is a cynical ploy. They should put the word Christian in it because they don't want any other religion included.

(21,925 posts)I'd depict a droopy-eyed John Boner standing outside of Congress with his foot on the throat of a woman with the caption "I have now proclaimed that there is no such thing as a war on women (Hic)".
