http://pix11.com/2015/02/09/texas-teen-fired-from-pizzaria-for-complaining-about-new-job-on-twitter-before-her-first-day/The teenager, only known as Cella on Twitter, was getting ready to start her first day at Jets Pizza in Mansfield, Texas, on Saturday, when she tweeted her true feelings about starting the new job.
Ew I start this fk a job tomorrow, @Cellla tweeted on Friday along with seven thumbs down emojis.

Jet's Pizza may not be the greatest place on Earth, but it is a LOT better than many other places. Take a few calls, make some salads and subs, and eat free food. If my health allowed, I would go to work for them in a heartbeat.
If THAT is a f*** a** job, then the world is filled with nearly nothing other than f*** a** jobs!

(68,918 posts)Does he complain about it? Heck yeah! Does he complain about it on social media? Heck no! Also, he brings home pizza and wings quite often, and we got to taste test that yucky pretzel pizza.
Hey, before someone says something all pizza snobbish, free fricking pizza always tastes amazing.

(45,274 posts)First, I got a lot of pizza to eat and sorta proved you can live on a pizza-and-beer diet.
Second, whenever anyone asked me what I was doing for a living, I was able to tell them I was running hot merchandise for a sleazy Italian.

(10,745 posts)That goes too far, TBH.
BTW, I actually worked at a pizza place once.....yeah, it was just as part of the cleanup crew(and in my condition, it was sometimes a bit of a challenge to keep up with my co-workers even with only a part-time 4 to 5 hour shift), but I actually got some good lunches out of discounted pizza. Too bad the economy ended up tanking right around the end of August '08, though; they had to let me go thanks to that.

(63,225 posts)I guess that they fired her because they had a pretty good idea of the kind of attitude she'd bring to the job.

(10,745 posts)Now, mind, I didn't act that way myself; I was grateful to have a paycheck at all. Even so, firing her on her first day is kinda overkill, and perhaps even spiteful, maybe.

(63,225 posts)And she can call it a valuable life lesson. If I were her prospective employer and she'd explicitly shit on her job that way, I would definitely fire her.
If I were to post something like that about the job where I've worked for four and a half years, they'd fire me before my next shift. Why should a brand new hire be afforded greater latitude?
It costs money to train someone. Why should the company invest in her when she's on record calling it a f*** a** job before she's even started?

(16,104 posts)At least you won't have to work for that f*** a** boss and work with that f*** a*** employee who ratted you out.
Better luck chasing your next slave wage job. If you really want it, it appears you're going to have to get your head straight, buy into the Republican dream, and keep your thoughts to yourself until you can't think anymore. You know, like the rest of us.
But, Cella, by God, you got a shot in!

(16,858 posts)Maybe she's learned a lesson about what is and isn't smart to post on social media.

(50,563 posts)He canned her ass over Twitter.
With that kind of FA attitude she'd probably be an FA employee, and it's not like there aren't a ton of other teenagers who'd want to work in a pizza house.

(15,041 posts)It inspired him to go back to school, learn medical back office and lab work. He works in a laboratory these days (not a lavatory) and as he explains it, he's very glad he had the scheiss-hauler job -- it gave him money when he needed it, but more so, it gave him impetus to find something new.
As I like to tell people: No matter what's happening today, it can always get worse. Why, just look at Celia, the little Twit(ter). Yesterday, she had a miserable, f*** a** job. Today, she's back looking for a miserable, f*** a** job. I don't believe anyone's replaced my friend at the scheiss-haulers. Maybe Celia could apply there. That'd give her some perspective -- smelling pizza and calzone all day has it's advantages.

(12,606 posts)We all did stupid things as teens, but now all the stupid is magnified with the send feature.
If I were Cella's parents I would have a long talk with her about any future employment.

(80,708 posts)I can understand why the proprietor might want to reconsider giving the job to someone as obviously "enthusiastic" about it.

(16,104 posts)You need to learn to appreciate job offers, learn from your employers and jobs, work hard and build on your experiences for a better future. This will all make you a better person. And one day you'll really appreciate handouts of leftover food.
We all had to learn.
And remember, the internet is forever, and you will be held accountable for every utterance.
We all know.
And someday...

(81,877 posts)That might have authenticated the person. But the name is not very specific and the post doesn't mention the restaurant. Maybe she mentioned it in another tweet.

(14,449 posts)If it was her....dumb....they can fire for any reason first 90 days. Now her next employee googles her name....which is common now. These stories will be there. If she didn't do it, she better speak up now!

(20,588 posts)(who I knew) had just interviewed a young woman for a job there. He asked her when she could start and she listed things she had to do every day for the next week (social things). He turned and asked me what I thought and I said apparently she doesn't have time to work here.
This young lady had the attitude she was doing the guy a favor!
Some in this generation coming up don't get the whole working thing. My sister had to hire for her department at a state agency. She had to give them talks about the fact that they were expected to come to work every day and on time. She also had to tactfully explain that crop tops and tank tops with no underwear were not appropriate wear for the job.
They learn eventually as this girl did.
