So many forget that Jesus WAS a Jew who was betrayed by his OWN people then forgave them because he understood human error and ignorance.

Sadly, Christ is a blood thirsty warrior king to many. The same types scoff when you tell them Jesus was very liberal. Also, people cannot handle the fact that he was the first hippie in western culture.

"But Rex, those are all bad things - they do not value money or power."

YEP.

...the publication of a book that would be a little less open to interpretation; that might explain the whole "self-sacrifice, acceptance and kindness" thing a little more clearly.

Kind of makes me wonder what kind of being really wrote it.

there needs to be a "who" right in front of "fed & healed." As is, it reads "who never spoke a word of English or fed & healed the poor for free..."

I'm not a grammar nazi, but this jumped out at me.

haired, blue eyed and lily white. He was a Galilean, possibly descended from Celts who migrated to northern Palestine in the 3rd century BCE and eventually converted to Judaism. Would it matter one way or another? Ashkenazi Jews are European and mostly lily white types. That doesn't seem to bother them too much.

He also supported taxation (Render unto Caesar) and cleared the moneychangers out of the temple (anti-corporate).

Jesus wouldn't even recognize himself in the image the right wing has built of him.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Muslim] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Passed unanimously by the US Senate. Signed into law by president and founding father John Adams. Totally dismissed and ignored by generations of fundamentalist nutjobs throughout this great nation.
