Chris Matthews: Its like Washington is cool for a day

At a pre-party thrown by The Hollywood Reporter and Google ahead of Saturday's White House Correspondents' Dinner, MSNBC host Chris Matthews joked about the annual event which brings together the capital's political elite with the entertainment world.
"It's like Washington is cool for a day or two," Matthews said.
"I have my camera here. I'm not ashamed, I'm an unashamed fan," he added, pulling out a cell phone camera.
Matthews also weighed in on the 2012 presidential contest, saying he expected a deadlocked race between President Obama and likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney until shortly before the election.
"Forty-six each and then eight percent in the middle are going to decide this thing, and they're not even paying attention." predicted Matthews.
"Ninety-two percent of this country has made up its mind and the eight percent that haven't, they aren't even going to focus on it until October."
Asked to name the "craziest story you've had to cover this year," Matthews pointed to former House Speaker Newt Gingrich's GOP nomination bid.
"Its an absurdity. He goes to the zoo every week. He's like going to 50 zoos in his campaign. Explain that to history. Here's a guy that campaigns at zoos," he said.
